about us
We started LegacyCheck because we experienced the estate process firsthand, and we believe every family deserves clarity during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
where it started
When a family member passed away, we expected the estate process to be straightforward. It wasn't. What followed was months of silence from attorneys, zero visibility into what was happening, and a system that seemed designed to keep families in the dark.
We discovered a government portal where estate information is technically public, but it was almost impossible to navigate. The data was there, buried under layers of complexity and jargon. We thought: if this information exists, why is it so hard for families to access it?
That frustration became LegacyCheck. We built the tool we wished we'd had: something that takes the opacity out of estate administration and gives families the visibility they deserve. No legal jargon, no R3,500/hour attorney emails just to find out what stage your estate is at.
what drives us
- Transparency over everything: we believe families shouldn't have to beg for updates on their own estate. If the information exists, you should be able to see it.
- Plain language, always: estate law is complex enough without the jargon. We explain everything in words real people understand.
- Accessibility for every family: whether you're in Johannesburg or London, whether you're an attorney or a first-time heir, estate clarity should be available to everyone.
